Monster Hunter World Is A “Massive, Record-Setting Success”; Ships 7.9 Million Units;

Monster Hunter World is continuing to be a smashing success for Capcom, consolidating its position as the publisher's best selling title.

In a fresh press release for the third quarter of the Fiscal Year 2017, Capcom defined Monster Hunter World as a "massive, record-setting success". The game has now shipped 7.9 million units, 400,000 more units since the previous report from March.

Other titles are contributing to Capcom's excellent result for the period, with Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Ultra Street Fighter II, and Monster Hunter XX (only available in Japan) continuing to sell well.

In this business, the record-breaking success of Monster Hunter: World (for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) drove the increase in sales and contributed greatly to improved profit. Furthermore, in addition to Resident Evil 7 biohazard (for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Nintendo Switch Ver. (for Nintendo Switch) giving strong performances, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (for Nintendo Switch) became a smash hit.

Capcom also updated its list of Platinum Titles, with Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and Street Fighter II dominating the list.

  16. Devil May Cry 4 – 3.0 million units
  17. Resident Evil – 2.75 million units
  18. Monster Hunter 3 (TriG – 2.6 million units
