Call of Duty: Modern Warfare won’t feature any kind of supply drop or loot box system, according to developer Infinity Ward.

The game’s developer took to Reddit to overnight to debunk the recent rumors and reports about Modern Warfare featuring lootboxes or suppy drops. The rumors surfaced after well-known Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGamingRevolution’ claimed that Infinity Ward and Activision are implementing lootboxes for weapons and cosmetics.

“Who wants 300+ emotes in supply drops, who wants 500+ titles, who wants over 200 sprays in supply drops”, the leaker tweeted. “Weapons are coming too, forget any cosmetic only malarkey.”

According to Infinity Ward, this isn’t the case at all and all functional content will actually be unlocked by playing the game. More info on this matter will be released later this week.

“There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare”, the developer writes on Reddit. “What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Stay tuned, we're planning to release info this week.”

As always, we’ll update as soon as we learn more about the upcoming Modern Warfare.
