The flagship smartphone chipset market is currently dominated by MediaTek and Qualcomm, but the former has once again demonstrated that its Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+ are top-tier silicon because these have propelled the company’s revenue to new heights. Based on the latest Q2 2025 figures, the Taiwanese fabless semiconductor manufacturer has generated $3 billion in revenue for its flagship chipset category and is projected to generate a 40 percent year-over-year jump, with its Dimensity 9500 right around the corner.

Mobile revenue made up 52 percent of MediaTek’s entire figure for Q2 2025, with gross margins touching nearly 50 percent

For the second quarter, MediaTek posted a quarterly revenue of NT$150.369 billion ($5.06 billion), making it an annual increase of 18.1 percent, though when comparing Q1 2025 earnings, the company witnessed a 1.9 percent decrease, but that was due to an ‘unfavorable foreign exchange rate.’ The chipset maker has said that it will launch the Dimensity 9500 in the third quarter and claims that it has received more customers and model adoption compared to the previous generation Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+.

Additionally, MediaTek is not taking a break as it aims to gravitate to TSMC’s 2nm process next year. During the Q2 2025 earnings call, the firm mentioned that it will commence tape-out of its next-generation SoC, though MediaTek previously announced that this process will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. For now, the Dimemsity 9500, arriving later this year, has been reported to be mass produced on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm ‘N3P’ technology, keeping pace with Qualcomm and Apple as both companies will leverage the same architecture for their flagship silicon.

Coming to gross margins, MediaTek made 49.1 percent on its Q2 2025 revenue, with operating income of 19.9 percent, or $1.02 billion.
