MediaTek officially announces the Dimensity 9500s

Qualcomm launching the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 meant that MediaTek needed to have a similar competitor, and it has arrived in the form of the Dimensity 9500s, which sports many similarities to its more powerful brother, the Dimensity 9500. The newest SoC leverages TSMC’s 3nm N3E process, and with no efficiency cores, it relies on an ‘all performance’ CPU cluster for increased multi-core performance. Additionally, MediaTek has outfitted this chipset with the latest technologies, so let us discuss those details in length below.

The Dimensity 9500s sticks with ARM’s Immortalis-G925 GPU to deliver superior graphics fidelity and ray tracing support like the Dimensity 9500

With its 12MB of L3 cache, 10MB of System Level Cache, and 19MB of CPU cache, the Dimensity 9500s offers solid specifications while maintaining its ‘1 + 3 + 4’ cluster. It also has LPDD5X RAM support up to 9,600MT/s with storage support of UFS 4.0 + MCQ. Coming to the CPU configuration, the details are mentioned below:

Related Story Qualcomm’s Split 2nm Chipset Strategy Is Paying Off, But That’s Bad News For Its Rival MediaTek
  • One ARM Cortex-X925 up to 3.73GHz with 2MB L2 cache
  • Three ARM Cortex-X4 with 1MB L2 cache
  • Four ARM Cortex-A720 with 512KB L2 cache

MediaTek has also added its second-generation Dimensity Scheduling Engine, which helps intelligently distribute everyday tasks, launch apps instantly, and maintain ultra-responsive touch and scrolling sensitivity. Despite the Dimensity Scheduling Engine stressing the CPU, MediaTek states that the Dimensity 9500s maintains incredible efficiency.

Coming to the GPU, the 8-core CPU is paired with ARM’s Immortalis-G925, which offers next-generation ray tracing and Opacity Micromap (OMM) technology, pushing graphical precision even further, enhancing scene quality and efficiency simultaneously.

The company’s MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0 (MAGT 3.0) and MediaTek Frame Rate Converter 3.0 (MRFC 3.0) help maximize power efficiency in leading titles, extending gameplay sessions. In supported games, the Dimensity 9500s can reach 165FPS, with a power-optimized option of 120FPS.

AI, camera support, and wireless connectivity

The Dimensity 9500s is equipped with MediaTek’s NPU that offers a variety of features such as AI live photo, AI photo editing, AI summarization of documents, Stable Diffusion, and generative AI video capabilities. As for the camera, the new chipset supports up to a single 320MP sensor, 18-bit RAW capture support, 8K Dolby Vision video capture, and 4K video capture with portrait bokeh. The maximum video capture resolution is 8K at 60FPS.

The Dimensity 9500s is paired with an integrated 5G Release-17 modem with up to 7Gbps downlink speeds, support for Wi-Fi 7 with up to 6.5Gbps downlink speeds, and Bluetooth connectivity reaching up to 5KMs phone-to-phone. In short, MediaTek’s latest SoC offers flagship-grade features without being positioned as a flagship SoC.
