A dramatic scene from the game 'Lords of the Fallen' shows two armored characters engaged in combat with a gothic castle backdrop and a full moon, with the title prominently displayed in the center.

2026 is going to be packed with Soulslikes, which is not surprising considering the genre's continued popularity. Joining the likes of Nioh 3 and Code Vein II will be Lords of the Fallen II, the third entry in the series which is set out to expand some of the best features of its predecessor, including the dual-world setup that sets it apart from other similar games.

Following its Gamescom 2025 debut earlier this year, a new look at CI Games' upcoming Soulslike arrived today with a new trailer shown during today's The Game Awards. Judging from the new footage, the intensity of the game will be amped up, improving on some of its predecessor's core features, such as the aforementioned dual-world setup, considerably.

The new look at Lords of the Fallen II isn't the only news related to the franchise today. The original Lords of the Fallen received its final update, update 2.5, which builds on the improvements introduced in update 2.0 "by further refining the flow of battle across both Legacy mode (the base experience), and all-new Veteran mode," both of which sport more brutal boss battles and more. This extended support for the game is commendable, demonstrating CI Games' commitment to delivering an experience that all Soulslike fans can appreciate.
