Around five months ago, CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski signaled a shift in tone for Lords of the Fallen 2 away from "political correctness" and toward, among other things, skimpy female armor designs.

Now, that's been confirmed with the official reveal of five concept art pieces that leave little to imagination: the female characters will feature much more revealing armor sets in the upcoming Soulslike sequel. The studio claimed to be responding to players' feedback:

You wanted fierce. You wanted beautiful. You wanted provocative.

The reveal also took place in partnership with content creator TheBackgroundNPC, who focuses specifically on female character design in gaming, covering the pattern of desaturated, androgynous female characters in Western AAA games versus studios she feels are "getting it right". CI Games is one of those with Lords of the Fallen 2; moreover, she claimed to have actually provided real-time feedback for the armor designs: she asked to slim Orath's figure and put more focus on her décolleté, suggested a necklace on Orath, which they drew while she watched, and asked to tweak the Tlesie Huntress's helmet, footwear, and add a chain detail around the foot. So far, the following five characters were revealed:

CharacterRoleNotes
Dark JusticiarElite enforcer, battle maidenHorned helm, leather and steel
KalanthiaVampire, sister/lover of Lord KataganRuns a "theater of torture"
OrathCaptain of the Serafs, radiant warriorGold armor, the one she spent most time redesigning
Radiant PriestessHoly conduit, supportSame divine order as Orath, flowing white fabric
Tlesie HuntressAncient, feral rangerMost organic/earthy design, corruption arc

Needless to say, this change is already proving highly controversial in the gaming community. Still, it's likely to go ahead and make it into the final game, which is slated to debut later this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.

In an exclusive interview with Wccftech, Hexworks Game Director James Lowe explained that Lords of the Fallen 2 will respect the player's time by having clearer systems, a stronger onboarding process, great performance and an overall experience that is challenging rather than frustrating.
