Layers of Fear, the new entry in the series by Bloober Team, seems to run slightly better on PlayStation 5 than Xbox Series X|S, judging from a new comparison video that is now available online.

The new video, which was put together by ElAnalistaDeBits, confirms the resolution and frame rate of all console versions of the game - 2160p, 30 FPS reconstructed from dynamic 1800p in Quality Mode, 2160p, 60 FPS in Performance Mode on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and 1440p, 60 FPS reconstructed from dynamic 1080p on Xbox Series S.

Layers of Fear's Performance Mode achieves the 60 frames per second target framerate by disabling ray tracing and lowering lighting quality, alongside having a lower average resolution compared to Quality Mode. In general, Layers of Fear seems to run decently well on all systems, outside of some stuttering issues in Quality Mode, but the PlayStation 5 version offers the highest average resolution in both display modes, which makes some difference in an immersive game such as the horror game by Bloober Team.

Those who wish to experience Layers of Fear at its best, however, should get the game on PC, especially if they have hardware capable of ray tracing, as the game looks amazing at high resolution and every setting cranked up. The new entry in the series not only looks and runs great, but it's also a solid remake that improves the originals in every possible way, as I highlighted in my review.

Layers of Fear is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
