A new bug in iOS 17 is automatically initiating the App Switcher while typing, but there is a workaround for a temporary fix

Apple's iOS 17 update launched with many bugs and issues, impacting all compatible iPhone models. The company has released various updates, but the platform continues to show signs of bugs hidden under the hood. We have previously reported that users complained about Wi-Fi connectivity issues on iOS 17.1.1. The company did not fix the issue with the release of iOS 17.1.2 last week. Another bug in iOS 17 is plaguing iPhone users, causing the App Switcher to appear on the screen while typing.

Apple is aware of the state iOS 17 is in at this stage, and it is continuously working to address all the bugs and issues in future updates. The company's dedication to fixing the issues is evident in its decision to temporarily halt development of next year's iOS 18, watchOS 11, macOS 15, and additional updates. Apple did fix the overheating issue on the new iPhone 15 Pro models with the release of iOS 17.0.3, but the issue did make headlines for a while.

The latest iOS 17 bug is quite persistent for users. The bug initiates the App Switcher while typing, causing distraction and botheration. The issue was highlighted on Apple Community and Reddit, suggesting users are taken out of Messages, Notes, and other apps while typing. This is because while users are still typing, the bug suddenly causes the App Switcher to appear, making them tap another app. You can check out the bug in action here.

The worst part is that the bug is present on all versions of iOS 17, including the recently launched iOS 17.0.2. It appears Apple is unaware of the issue as the bug is difficult to replicate. If you are also encountering the issue, there is a temporary workaround you can perform to fix the issue until Apple releases a software update. It has been observed that turning off the Reachability feature prevents the iOS 17 bug from initiating the App Switcher mode. Here's what you have to do to disable Reachability:

1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and head to Accessibility.

2. Under "Physical and Motor," tap on Touch.

3. Turn off the Reachability toggle.

This is all you must do to prevent the iOS 17 bug from automatically initiating App Switcher mode while typing. The process is simple, and we recommend enabling it until an official fix arrives. A similar bug was reported last week that freezes your iPhone entirely. We will let you know when Apple releases a fix for the issue, so stick around.
