Apple will potentially release iOS 16.3.1 next week with important security updates for the iPhone, iOS 17.4 to be released next month

The news was shared by MacRumors, suggesting its website's analytics logs show that Apple is testing the iOS 17.3.1 update for the iPhone. As mentioned earlier, since it is an iOS 17.x.x update, it will not include any major features or changes. However, the company could bring bug fixes and performance enhancements to the table for a more fluid user experience. Additionally, the company could also fix issues that were not addressed in the prior iOS 17 releases. The company could also fix bugs that relate to battery drain issues on some iPhone models. However, no concrete details are available as to what the forthcoming build will bring to the mix.

Apple released the iOS 16.3.1 update last year on February 13, which makes next week a likely time frame for the update. Apple will potentially include important security updates for the iPhone with the release of iOS 17.3.1. The company could also seed older versions of iOS as well with upgraded security patches.

Currently, Apple is testing iOS 17.4 with developers. The build has reached the second beta cycle ahead of its release next month. iOS 17.4 will bring major changes for developers and the App Store. The platform will allow users to sideload apps and install third-party app stores. Additionally, developers can also offer their own payment methods. Apple has also devised a fee structure for third-party developers if they are to offer their apps outside of the App Store.

Note that the App Store changes and additional features will only be available with iOS 17.4 in countries that fall under the EU. The rest of the world would get the standard iOS 17.4 update with some pretty nifty additions. We will share more details on iOS 17.4 as soon as further details are available.
