A torrent of leaks and rumors are slowly beginning to unwind on the iPhone Fold, with the latest details sharing the possible battery capacity that’s expected to power Apple’s first foldable flagship. Given that the Cupertino firm is already dealing with a ton of design challenges that may include the removal of Face ID in favor of Touch ID, the battery size may not be as large as the unit inside the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Based on supply chain information, the iPhone Fold will feature a 4,883mAh battery, making the capacity smaller than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s

A new set of details from Apple’s battery supplier reveals that the iPhone Fold will have two cells instead of one, a typical approach used by the company’s rivals. The 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh units combined make it a total of 4,883mAh of usable capacity. The silver lining here is that the device will have a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and possibly the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.

However, for longer runtimes, we highly recommend upgrading to the iPhone 18 Pro Max, because its massive 5,567mAh capacity won’t just outlast the iPhone Fold, but tipster Ice Universe has remarked that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will deliver endurance equivalent to Android flagships sporting a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Fortunately, even if the iPhone Fold cannot offer the same ‘screen on’ time as its ‘candy bar’ cousin, it should be sufficient to warrant an upgrade among the affluent consumer. For instance, Apple’s first foldable flagship will ship with the company’s first 2nm SoC, the A20 Pro, improving efficiency to a meaningful extent.

We don’t have confirmation whether Apple will use its C2 5G modem or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X80, though the use of the company’s in-house baseband chip could be more power-efficient, leading to even better battery life.

Since the iPhone Fold is the first iteration of a new product, there will obviously be a few compromises, and if you want a larger capacity, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is an excellent alternative.
