Learn how Multihack works in PRAGMATA to dominate enemy groups

PRAGMATA generally does a very good job of explaining its intricate mix of third-person shooting and hacking puzzle-solving, but not every mechanic is explained as thoroughly as it should be.

This is the case of the Multihack hacking node, one of the best hacking abilities in the entire game, which can turn the most difficult combat encounters into a walk in the park with the right setup.

Multihack: The Best Tool For Crowd Control

According to the in-game description, Multihack is a "hacking node that links enemies together, opening multiple targets. OPEN time is extended while damage to affected targets is reduced. Passing through multiple nodes of the same type extends OPEN duration."

Going by this, this seems like an average tradeoff, as reduced damage is inevitably going to increase your time in combat against multiple targets. However, there's a hidden mechanic the game doesn't tell you about that makes Multihack the most powerful hacking tool in the game: it also applies the effects of every other hacking node you activate!

Powerful Multihack Combos

When you get the chance to unlock Multihack a few hours into the game, the only other hacking node available to you is Decode, which increases damage dealt to affected enemies, essentially offsetting Multihack's reduced damage effect. However, as soon as you unlock other nodes like Confuse and Freeze, you can put some very effective combos to good use.

  • Multihack + Confuse: With this combo (which is the one to use to clear the Bad Blood Training Simulation), you can have multiple enemies fight one another, taking the heat off you and letting you pick them off one by one via either shooting and consecutive hacking with Offense Mode and the Hack Reset Secret Technique.
  • Multihack + Freeze + Decoy Generator Defense Unit: With this combo, you not only get to stun multiple enemies at the same time, but you can also get them to where you want them to be by releasing a decoy with the Decoy Generator. This will let you use weapons that can hit multiple enemies at once, like the Charge Piercer, to damage a larger number of enemies at once. The best early Loadout Synergy in the game is also more effective with this combo, extending the enemies' stun time for even more massive damage.

As fights against multiple bots at the same time are the most challenging in the game, learning how to leverage these combos will turn bigger enemy numbers into your advantage.
