Fast Charge iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro Max Smart Battery Case [How to]

Need to fast charge the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max Smart Battery Case? We have some solid tips for you.

Fast Charge the iPhone 11, 11 Pro Max Smart Battery Case and Stay Powered up Longer

The official Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max is the way to go if you want to last longer on the battery front. But with such a great and  wonderful accessory comes something horrid - the amount of time you will spend with a wall charger once the battery depletes. Just think about it, you are charging your dead iPhone and a battery case side by side, so it will take a while. Thankfully, since the Smart Battery Case is 'smart,' therefore you will be surprised to learn that you can actually fast charge it with a few small changes.

How to Charge Past 90% Using MagSafe Battery Pack on iPhone

Don't Use a 5W Charger Ever

I'll just get this out of the way first. The 5W charger which Apple hands out to consumers with the iPhone 11 is something which you should stay away from. It's bad, it's slow and it just sucks.

18W is Acceptable But Not Good Enough

The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max can fast charge at 18W using a USB-C charger and switch over to slower charging once it hits the 80% mark. The same thing applies to the Smart Battery Case as well. But there is a small problem here. See, once you plug in your iPhone and the battery case to an 18W charger, your iPhone will fast charge first to the 80% mark after which the Smart Battery Case will fast charge while your iPhone will charge slowly. This is a neat little compromise where the iPhone will fast charge first if the battery is under 80% and the battery case gets more power once the phone is above the 80% mark. It can surely be improved. A lot.

Use a 30W+ Charger Instead

How to Downgrade iOS 15 RC Back to iOS 14 on iPhone, iPad

If you switch over to a 30W+ USB-C charger for your iPhone and Smart Battery Case, both the phone and the case will juice up at full 18W speed. There will be no prioritized power distribution at all. Both the phone and accessory will fast charge till 80% whether low on battery or completely dead. This is essentially the rock solid option for fast charging the battery case and I highly recommend going for it.

Although a 30W charger would work just fine with this, but I would still recommend giving yourself some legroom and go for something that offers anything above 30W.

And that's how you fast charge Apple's Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
