There will eventually come a point where the AirPods Max will start acting up and you will be required to perform a factory reset to bring things back to normal. This is pretty normal when it comes to electronic devices and something which should be expected to be done during usual course of usage.
Before you go ahead with the full-on factory reset, we will first show you how you can reboot your AirPods Max as there is a possibility that it might fix any issues you might be having.
How to Reboot AirPods Max
Step 1. Take your AirPods Max out of their smart case.
Step 2. Press and hold down the noise control + Digital Crown buttons until the status light starts to flash amber. Let go of the buttons.
Step 3. Given your AirPods a few seconds to reboot and then try using them again.
How to Factory Reset AirPods Max
The reboot didn't fix anything at all? Well, then lets go for the nuclear option.
Step 1. Make sure your AirPods Max are out of their smart case.
Step 2. Press and hold down the noise control + Digital Crown buttons for 15 seconds until the status light starts to flash amber and then white. Let go of the buttons when the light flashes white.
Step 3. Wait for the AirPods Max to properly factory reset and they will show up on your iPhone and iPad ready to be paired again.
At this point, everything should be resolved. But, before you turn to Apple, you can give your iPhone or iPad a reset as well to rule out any problem that might exist on your end. If everything fails, then you might want to call in a Genius appointment.
