Not Enjoying Your Avatar Experience? Here's How to Delete it Using Facebook Messenger or Instagram App

You've decided that you don't want to use avatars anywhere on Facebook, Messenger or Instagram. That's fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea. And if you think you should also delete the avatar you created then here's how you can do it using the Instagram and Messenger apps. It's really not that difficult at all.

Let's have a look at Instagram first.

Tutorial for Instagram

Step 1. Launch the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device.

Step 2. Tap on your profile tab and then tap on the three dashes on the top right hand corner.

Step 3. Now tap on Settings.

Step 4. Tap on Account.

Step 5. Now open Avatars from here.

Step 6. Tap on the trash icon as shown in the screenshot below then tap on Delete.

The avatar is now forever gone. Simple as that.

Now it's time to look at Facebook Messenger.

Tutorial for Messenger

Step 1. Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Step 2. Tap on your profile image on the top left hand corner.

Step 3. Tap on Avatar.

Step 4. Tap on Edit your avatar.

Step 5. Now tap on Edit Avatar.

Step 6. Tap on the trash can icon and then tap on Delete to confirm.

Your avatar won't show up anywhere at all. If you deleted your avatar only because you wanted to create a fresh one then you can do that as well by repeating the steps which you followed in the first place. It basically takes under five minutes unless you want your avatar to look exactly like you, only then it will take a long while.

Although I'm not a huge fan of avatars, but they do come in handy at times. They are especially great for people who want to maintain privacy across social platforms and do not wish to share their real photo. Apart from that, using an avatar as a sticker adds an element of fun which you didn't realize wasn't there. Trust me, that laughing emoji has nothing compared to your avatar crying their eyes out.

Regardless of how you look at avatars, it's always great to know that the option to create one exists. Who knows you might just change your mind and actually get hooked completely.
