Here's how to change the time of day in Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, changing the time of day is as important as it is in every open-world game, if not even more. With some bounty targets only being out and about only at certain hours, and with nights being dark enough to impede your visibility, there are times when you may want to move time forward.

How to Pass Time

Unlike the vast majority of open-world games, you cannot change the time of day in Crimson Desert by picking an option from the main menu.

To advance time, you must locate a Bonfire anywhere in the world and do the following:

  1. Approach the fire.
  2. Press L1 (PS5) or LB (Xbox) to focus on the fire.
  3. Move your cursor to the bonfire icon and press X (PS5) or A (Xbox) to access the "Wait" menu.
  4. Choose the duration. You can choose to advance time by 3, 6, or 12 hours.

While finding a bonfire every time you want to advance time can be annoying, the game keeps track of all your discovered bonfires on the map. They are identified by a small fire icon.

Alternatively, you can also use beds to rest and thus change the time of day.

Can You Always Change the Time of Day?

Unlike many other open-world games, you cannot spam the Wait mechanics to skip days at a time in Crimson Desert. The game features a rest cooldown, which makes it so your character needs to actually be fatigued from travel, combat, or the passage of time before they can rest again at a bonfire. If the option is greyed out, you'll need to head back out into Pywel for a while before the next nap.
