How to Buy the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus in Their 128 or 256GB Storage Models in the U.S.?
If the only thing that kept you from buying the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus was the meager storage space of 64GB, you are in luck. However, if you are amongst the early adopters, you are not going to like this news at all.
As per Samsung’s announcement, starting from May 18, two new storage variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are going to be available: a 128GB variant and a 256GB one. The new variants will retail at new prices to account for the storage upgrades you are getting in return.
If you own a 64GB Galaxy S9 model, you will have to buy one of the new variants with more storage capacity as it is impossible to upgrade the internal storage of a phone if you do not add a microSD card in the available slot. If Samsung had introduced these new variants during the time of the official launch, it would have been easier for the customers to decide which one they would want.
As this wasn’t enough to irk the early adopters of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, the Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, Justin Denison added fire to the flame by saying the following
“With these new high-capacity models and the flexibility of expandable storage, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus owners have a variety of ways to keep their content close.”
It honestly does not make sense why Samsung waited this long to introduce two new variants with higher amounts of storage, but the point is that they exist and if you want one, here is what you will have to do.
Samsung is exclusively selling both storage models of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, and given below are the pricing details as well.
- Galaxy S9 128GB model: $769.99
- Galaxy S9 256GB model: $819.99
- Galaxy S9 Plus 128GB model: $889.99
- Galaxy S9 Plus 256GB model: $939.99
Apart from the storage capacity, the new variants will be the same as the originally released phones. Even the color options remain the same; Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. Pre-orders for the new smartphones have started so if you have not picked one up, now is the time to do so.
