Gamescom 2025 has come and gone, and with the event in our rear view, GamesIndustry.Biz reports that this year's event was record-breaking, with a 6.5% increase on last year's attendance as 357,000 people flooded Cologne for the event, and Gamescom Opening Night Live saw 72 million people tune in from around the globe.
Gamescom 2024 hosted 335,000 people, making this years 357K from 128 different countries a significant jump. This year also had more exhibitors than ever before, with 1,568 studios and businesses on the show floor from 72 countries, and 40 pavilions that each represented different countries.
And while Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley will take the 72 million viewership numbers as a big win, Gamescom overall will take its Saturday evening viewing numbers as an even bigger win, with over 630 million viewers watching Gamescom content on Saturday.
"Gamescom 2025 sets new standards. Bigger, more diverse and more international than ever before, the most important festival of gaming culture underscores the positive force that games, the industry, and the global community represent," said German Games Industry Association managing director Felix Falk.
Gerald Böse, president and chief executive officer of Koelnmesse, the organizing company of Gamescom also said, "Gamescom 2025 has once again set a new standard for large-scale international events. Gamescom combines business and entertainment like no other event worldwide, as shown by the 1,568 exhibitors spread across 233,000 square meters of gross exhibition space. With record figures once again in nearly every category, the enormous variety of experiences and global participation, Gamescom is the most important even for the global gaming community."
