Samsung’s Foldable Display Phone, Galaxy X Could Have an Inception as Early as Next Year
The last time we heard about the Galaxy X was around 7 months ago when Samsung was reported to be working on a foldable display smartphone prototype. A new update on the matter reveals that we could be seeing actual commercial units of the Galaxy X in 2018.
Samsung Reported to Make a Display That Can Be Folded Inward Like Paper - Galaxy X Could Sport the Same Attribute
Business Korea has reported that according to industry sources, Samsung is going to be introducing its Galaxy X phone next year. It has not been clarified how many commercial units we could be seeing next year or their stamped price tag, but it appears that Samsung is preferring to keep things in the shadows because the limelight might have the potential to be taken away from the upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
If Samsung does plan on releasing the Galaxy X next year, we are under the assumption that the device could be packing Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chipset manufactured on the 10nm FinFET architecture. With foldable displays getting showcased at earlier trade shows, it was only a matter of time before they got reduced in size to the point where they could be used on smartphones and tablets.
Galaxy X has been rumored to feature a book-like form factor, with the foldable display being flexible enough to turn into an actual book, which in proper terminology, is known as having a curvature of 1.0R.
Samsung was earlier rumored to showcase a prototype of the foldable display smartphone this year, but it looks like design and manufacturing problems forced the Korean giant’s hand to extend the announcement date of the gadget. Previous reports have stated that Samsung will be releasing a smaller number of commercial units, most likely to witness what sort of response the Galaxy X is able to accumulate.
Often times, consumers are not ready for such devices as they want something that works immediately as they remove it from its box.
What sort of features do you think will be accompanied with the imminent release of the Galaxy X?
