Final Fantasy VII Switch Patch 1.0.1 Fixes Aggravating Music Loop Glitch & Flashing Black Screen FMV Issue

Final Fantasy VII

Out of nowhere, Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VII Switch patch 1.0.1 which fixes the well-known music loop glitch and an issue with the screen flashing to black when transitioning from cutscenes to gameplay.

The patch wasn’t announced and came as a surprise for many Switch players, but it seems that this update addresses the apparent issues on Nintendo’s hybrid platform that players have been reporting since the release of the port back in March of this year.

The music patch loop bug caused the overworld music to restart after every random enemy encounter. Interestingly, the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII also contained this bug, but Square Enix patched it out later. Luckily, this new patch now also fixes this issue on the Switch.

As said, the 1.0.1 patch also fixes the new flashing black screen bug that was introduced with the Switch port. Many considered this bug quite annoying as it occurred during every direct cutscene to gameplay transition.

Final Fantasy VII is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
