Despite its original announcement having been made three years ago, there’s still very little we know about the Final Fantasy VII Remake. While it’s pretty much assured that it won’t be a traditional JRPG, it seems like the game will have more emphasis on action as many might have expected.

In a recent job listing by Square Enix for the recruitment of a 3DCG designer to work as a VFX designer spotted by Siliconera, the Japanese publisher describes the game as an action title.

The perks section for the job listing describes it as “a position that will carry the core of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is being remade as an action game” and “a chance to challenge the world with a new Final Fantasy action.”

One of the game’s older trailers, which showcases glimpses of gameplay, already made it clear that there would be a bigger focus on action than other entries in the series, but the game getting described as an action title is definitely interesting.

Very little of the Final Fantasy VII Remake has been shown recently. The game didn’t show up at the E3 2018 in June, and the only new image we have seen of the game is an off-screen screenshot of Cloud fighting what looks like the early game Air Buster Boss.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
