Caracal Games, have just announced Downward, a first person, open world parkour game being built on the Unreal Engine 4.
Downward is a scenery open-world adventure set during the Middle Ages, after that the events depicted in the Book of Revelation of St. John took their course. In the game players take the role of a mysterious wanderer during a pilgrimage through the Est across the ancient and majestic ruins of the last civilisations of an almost inhabited world. This journey is inspired by the wanderer’s thirst for knowledge, which guides him to search for some strange artefacts, somehow linked to the End already occurred.
NOBLE SIMPLICITY AND QUIET GRANDEUR
Downward will show you a world no mortal eyes has ever set their sight upon, across esoteric architectures of the past and owe-inspiring landscapes.
The world of Downward is rich of secrets and cloaked in mystery. Exploration (by foot and mount) is at the very core of the gameplay.
Caracal Games’ aim is to support the exploration with an advanced parkour system, which will help you clear all the challenges on your path and will make you enjoy every cliff.
Downward certainly looks quite interesting and coupled with the incredible potential of the Unreal Engine 4 to create intricately detailed open world environments, the possibilities for a title like this are endless. The Middle Ages period following the events depicted in the Book of Revelation of St. John, seems quite an interesting time and setting for an open world adventure.
Downward is currently under development for PC by Caracal Games and is set for a holiday 2015 release. Lets hope that more is revealed about the game soon enough.
