Samsung recently launched the much-anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge, the company's slimmer phone that came with a dual-camera setup. However, contrary to expectations in the first week of its release, the new phone did not do as expected. Even when the device's reception was not optimal, the South Korean tech giant seems determined to bring it forward next year and even replace it with one of the Galaxy S devices. The company seems committed to continuing with the Edge model, but is focused on bringing more refinement to the Galaxy S26 Edge moving forward.
Despite facing mixed reactions initially, Samsung plans to release a Galaxy S26 Edge in 2026 and might also replace one of the Galaxy S devices
Samsung released its Galaxy S25 Edge in May 2025, which attracted quite a lot of attention even before it was released due to its slim form factor. Despite many praising the ultra-thin model, which stands at only 5.84 inches thick, some have criticized the company for compromising on certain elements, such as downgrading the battery and not including a telephoto lens.
While the reaction to the new device is somewhat mixed, the criticism did not impact the tech giant, as it is still focused on bringing the Edge concept next year. According to The Elec report, Samsung is planning to bring the Galaxy S26 Edge next year and might replace the Galaxy S25 Plus as the company seems to be restructuring its S lineup.
If Samsung ends up replacing the Galaxy S26 Plus with the Galaxy S26 Edge, it might not be as surprising. Given that both models tend to share similar display sizes and appear identical owing to their dimensions, the only difference is that the Edge model is slimmer, giving it a more premium look and higher-end position. So, continuing with two models that have more or less similar offerings does not make sense.
We hope that Samsung is able to resolve one of the biggest complaints yet about the S25 Edge, which has a smaller battery capacity, standing at 3,900mAh, in comparison to the S25 Plus, which offers an extended battery and a larger size. The report claims that the South Korean tech giant has already started working on bringing the next-generation Edge model. However, we cannot be certain if the company will be bringing out the device next year without seeing the performance of the S25 Edge in the market.
For now, it seems that the company is experimenting with its flagship models and considering replacing a mid-range Plus model with a more premium device with a better design.
