The new GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 variant will launch tomorrow in China but one of NVIDIA's board partners has already listed the GPU on a major e-commerce platform.

Colorful Lists Four Different RTX 5090 D V2 Editions on JD, Featuring New Downgraded Specifications

Due to new US export policies, NVIDIA had to stop the shipping of the GeForce RTX 5090 D, which was RTX 5090's variant for the Chinese market with reduced AI capabilities. To comply with the new rules, NVIDIA produced a new variant called the GeForce RTX 5090 D "V2", which brings downgraded memory configuration, bringing 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM instead of 32 GB and a reduced memory bandwidth of 384-bit.

Looks like NVIDIA's board partners are ready to launch their custom designs tomorrow when the embargo lifts. That said, one of NVIDIA's board partners, Colorful, has already listed several of its RTX 5090 D V2 editions on one of the biggest e-commerce stores. There are four different editions from Colorful, with the latest cut-down GPU as can be seen in the screenshot. The price starts at 20,699 Yuan, which translates to around US$2,880.

The other variants are listed at 20,799 and 20,999 Yuan, which is equivalent to around $2900 in USD. This clearly doesn't align with the previous report, which suggested a much lower price for the new variant. As per the previous report, the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 should cost 14,000 Yuan, roughly $830 lower than the RTX 5090 D. It's possible that 20,000+ Yuan may not be the official MSRP for the RTX 5090 D V2 but as @Zed__Wang suggested, the RTX 5090 D V2 will be priced the same as RTX 5090D.

So, essentially, Chinese gamers will have no option but to pay the same amount for inferior hardware. That said, it's likely that the leftover inventory for the RTX 5090 D is already sold out, and a lot of those have already been shipped to different parts of the world through major retailers for a price tag of $5,000+. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 5090 is easily smuggled to the Chinese market and is being converted into AI GPUs. Some of those GPUs with the original PCB with no GPU and VRAM then get into the supply chain secretly, which we have seen in a few cases.
