Lenovo unveiled their latest ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop at CES 2018. Keeping up with the current trend of CES 2018, Lenovo announced support for Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant with the laptop. Other features include a soft-feel cover, Windows Hello with a fingerprint reader, a Wake on Voice feature, and a new “ThinkShutter mechanical camera cover.” The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is also available with a touchscreen-enabled panel, for a higher price, of course.

This is the sixth iteration of the ThinkPad carbon, and like previous models, you can customize the type of hardware that comes with it. You can get yours with the latest 8th generation Intel i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, 64-bit Windows 10 operating system, up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage and an integrated Intel graphics (UHD 620 chip). The GPU is a bit of a letdown, and something along the lines of a 940M would have been much better. It also boasts of a battery that can last up to 15 hours.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon: Specifications

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has a 14-inch HDR WQHD IPS display with a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution and support for Dolby Vision and HDR (high dynamic range). The frame also packs two USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone and microphone combo jack, 4-in-1 microSD card reader, one HDMI port along with one Ethernet port, integrated global mobile broadband, and support for LTE-A Fibocom L850-GL, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC, and Bluetooth 4.2.

It weighs approximately 2.49 pounds and has the following dimensions: 323.5 x 217.1 x 15.95mm. While it isn’t the lightest laptop around, 2.49 pounds is light enough to allow you to haul it without too much of a hassle. The focal point of the laptop, however, is its integration with Alexa, which will enable you to play music, look at the news, look things up online and a lot more.

The ThinkPad Carbon is expected to go on sale later on in the month, at a retail price of $1,709 for the base model.
