CD Projekt RED, managing director, Adam Badowski explained that when they announced Cyberpunk 2077, they were hard at work on the title. Later on though they had to shift their focus on finishing The Witcher 3.
“We wanted to present a certain vision of ourselves. Such a thing is very important for a company like ours – a company that is both the developer and the publisher,” said Badowski in an interview with Game Pressure.
“The moment we announced Cyberpunk, we were certainly working on it. Later on, it turned out that we needed help in completing Witcher 3 – lately we have focused a larger part of the team on finishing the game, and after the release we will get back to Cyberpunk. After all, we didn’t announce a release date of the latter, so no one can complain.”
Subsequently, Badowski, was asked whether Cyberpunk 2077, will make an appearance at E3 2015 to which he replied:
“This year belongs to The Witcher.”
It certainly is quite disappointing that we will not get a glimpse of Cyberpunk 2077, at this year's E3 event. It has been a long wait for The Witcher 3, and it appears that it will be totally worth it. We will likely be getting one of the best gaming experiences of the year, and a massive action RPG, in both scope and size.
Cyberpunk 2077' setting has great potential for an open-world RPG
Since Cyberpunk 2077 was announced, back in 2013, there have been many thinking of the immense possibilities of the Cyberpunk universe, and looking forward to the interesting sci-fi setting being realized in an open-world action RPG. I must admit, that I have been looking forward to more on Cyberpunk 2077 for some time now, and it saddens me greatly that it will not have a presence at E3 2015.
CD Projekt RED must have huge plans for Cyberpunk 2077
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, deserves all the attention though, and I fully understand CD Projekt RED's decision to focus on the title. They have a dedication to The Witcher franchise, and to fans waiting for continuous support for the game, as well as new content. CD Projekt RED, must have some big plans for Cyberpunk, and it can be assumed that development is shifting to the new APIs, something that will benefit the title greatly for both the PC and current-gen consoles.
