Intel's Wildcat Lake laptops have been a real challenge for offerings like Apple MacBook Neo, but it appears that Lunar Lake isn't that behind as well. Unlike Wildcat Lake, the Intel Lunar Lake isn't an entry-level product stack, as the entire lineup brings 8-core SKUs and is aimed at premium lightweight devices, bringing a long battery life. The difference mostly lies in the clock speeds and integrated graphics, but most SKUs are quite close to each other in other areas.
Wildcat Lake, on the other hand, brings 5-6 cores, aiming for the entry-level segment, where it aims to target budget mobile devices. We have recently seen how Wildcat Lake laptops have dropped to around a $600 price tag in China, making a perfect solution for users who are looking for lightweight and efficient devices. However, the Lunar Lake-based laptops seem to be enjoying more price drops than ever.
As reported by @realVictor_M, the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V-based laptops are seeing continuous price drops in mainland China, and some laptops have reportedly dropped in prices even below the Wildcat Lake offerings. As per the report, the Mechrevo 16S 2026 laptop edition has dropped to just 4,099 Yuan, which translates to around US$600. This is the price tag we were seeing on a Wildcat Lake laptop that carried an official MSRP of $645 in China.
However, these laptops bring a 6-core CPU and a weaker integrated graphics despite the latest Xe3 architecture. Intel's Core 5 226V brings Arc 130V integrated graphics that bring 7 Xe2 cores and a stronger NPU performance as well. Seeing Lunar Lake laptops hitting $600 is surprising, considering these laptops bring decent memory-storage (16 GB + 512 GB) configurations for budget laptops. Moreover, we are seeing a better display on the Mechrevo 16 S 2026 than the Honor Notebook X14 2026, featuring a similar resolution but twice the refresh rate.
