It’s April Fool’s Day, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems Gearbox Software just let slip a couple fairly major bits of information on Twitter. Specifically, we may have the release date for Borderlands 3, and yes, it seems the game is probably coming to the Epic Games Store.

Just a few minutes ago, the official Borderlands Twitter account seemingly confirmed a September 13 release for the game. The Tweet was quickly yanked down (which, in a weird way, kind of lends it credibility), but the Internet never forgets.

Meanwhile, a Twitter ad began making the rounds earlier today, and fans immediately noticed a telltale logo in the bottom-left corner – yup, it looks like Borderlands 3 is coming to the Epic Games Store. Will the game be Epic exclusive? There’s no saying for sure, but I sure don’t see a Steam logo anywhere on the ad!

Again, this is April Fool’s Day, so something weird might be going on here, but if this is all a gag, it’s a particularly unfunny one. This feels like a legit leak. If so, it seems like those fan theories about the game coming out on October 10 have been disproven!

Haven’t been keeping up with Borderlands 3? You can check it out its debut trailer here. It seems like Gearbox is mostly sticking to what works — a traditional four-player co-op experience, featuring 4K cell-shaded graphics, returning characters like Tiny Tina, Sir Hammerlock, and Claptrap, and over a billion procedurally-generated guns to collect.

More Borderlands 3 info will be revealed on April 3, so hopefully the release date and Epic Games Store details will be announced then.
