The folks at EA and DICE have been teasing the contents of the next Battlefield 2042 season for some time now, and now they’ve dropped a first trailer and full release date. Battlefield 2042 is entitled “Dark Creations” and will introduce a new moody close-quarters combat map, the usual assortment of new weapons and cosmetics, and more.

The new Battlefield 2042 Season 6 teaser trailer provides a cinematic look at the new map, which does indeed look a lot tighter than most of the game’s battlegrounds. Interestingly, it also shows soldiers going up against a group of zombie-like enemies with glowing eyes. Is DICE hinting at some sort of new PvE content here? That would be cool, although there’s also a good chance the trailer is just hinting at some sort of Halloween-ish zombie cosmetics. We shall see. You can check out the trailer for yourself, below.

Pretty intense stuff. Kinda makes you wish this game had an actual narrative. Beyond the trailer above, DICE hasn’t revealed too much about Battlefield 2042 Season 6 yet, although they did previously have this to say about the new map…

“We don’t want to spoil all the details just yet, but we’re excited to share a tiny glimpse of the new map in the Development Update video! Expect a chillingly unique new battleground harboring dark secrets where you’ll confront your fear of the unknown. It’s one of our favorite maps we’ve built so far and we can’t wait to share more with you at a later time.”

Curious to learn more? EA and DICE will be rolling out a full Battlefield 2042 Season 6 gameplay trailer this Thursday (October 5) at 8am PT. In the meantime, you can catch up on Battlefield 2042’s latest round of content updates, entitled Redux, right here.

Battlefield 2042 can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. Season 6 “Dark Creations” launches on October 10. What are your thoughts on the current state of Battlefield 2042? Intrigued by what DICE might be serving up with Season 6?
