After being available through a carrier, the ASUS Zenfone AR is now ready for purchase through online retailer Amazon. Sporting an abundant amount of RAM, the smartphone also carries a large display to provide increased screen real estate to the user.
8GB RAM Variant Offers More Storage Than 6GB RAM Version - Zenfone AR Is Tango and Google Daydream Compatible
The 8GB RAM version of the Zenfone AR features 128GB of onboard storage while the 6GB RAM model sports 64GB of internal memory. We’ll have you know that the base model is also a $100 cheaper so if you feel that the aforementioned amount of storage is sufficient for you then go ahead and make the purchase. Before we move on with the features, it is important to know which networks the handset is going to be compatible with.
Since this is the unlocked version, it will work with the following carriers:
- traight Talk
- Walmart Family Mobile
- Simple Mobile
- h20 Wireless
- Cricket Wireless
Unfortunately, Zenfone AR is not compatible with CDMA networks such as the following:
- US Cellular
The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 1440p display. There is a Tricam system with a 23MP rear shooter plus another camera lens that is meant for AR purposes. You also have an 8MP front-camera sensor at the front. Since it features a Snapdragon 821 SoC, it means that the device has sufficient firepower to render Daydream content, but you will need a Daydream View headset in order to start experiencing such content.
There is also a 3,300mAh battery and a microSD card to expand your storage up to 2TB. The large bezels might look less attractive than the likes of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ but it presents several benefits such as a high-quality speaker system as well as a decent-sized battery capacity so there are pros to maintaining an old smartphone design as well.
