ASUS Showcases Next-Gen Zenbook DUO That Reportedly Utilizes Two Battery Packs

ASUS recently announced a bunch of new products in the existing lineups that are going to be revealed at CES, which is going to take place in the first to second week of January 2026 in Las Vegas. We knew from the official announcement that ASUS would launch revisions of notebooks as well, including its popular Zenbook DUO, which is known for its lightweight design and versatility for work.

ASUS today uploaded a 22-second video clip on X, teasing some of the features of this "next-gen" Zenbook DUO laptop. The new Zenbook DUO will boast a more durable design, but the most interesting part is its battery, which is reportedly being integrated on both sides. Usually, you will find the battery only on one side, including the Zenbook DUO, which has dual-screen setups, but the primary display will also host a second battery.

I have tried searching for such configurations and could only come up with ThinkPad T580, which boasts a dual-battery configuration. However, the laptop boasts an internal and a removable one. The Zenbook DUO boasts a completely different design, and it won't be practical to have a removable battery on it. Also, it appears from the teaser that both battery packs will be internal in the upcoming version.

It's unlikely that ASUS will have the same battery capacity on both sides, but this is just our speculation. The current Zenbook Duo laptops feature a 75 Wh battery, which ASUS claims can deliver up to 13 hours of use. If ASUS utilizes a second battery for powering the primary screen, it could easily increase the usage time significantly. Similar to the ThinkPad T580, ASUS may deploy a smaller battery for the primary screen, which should be enough, considering a larger battery will increase the overall weight of the device.

The current-gen ASUS Zenbook DUO weighs just 1.65 Kg, and we may expect somewhat more weight on the upcoming one. Hopefully, the next-gen Zenbook DUO doesn't reach 2.0 Kg, and we are looking forward to the event where ASUS will reveal more about the laptop.
