ASUS Confirms All of Its 44 AM5 Motherboards Will Support AMD's Next-Gen Ryzen "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs 1

ASUS has published the full list of its AM5 (600-series) motherboards which support the next-gen AMD Ryzen "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs.

ASUS's Entire AM5 Motherboard Lineup Is Ready For AMD's Next-Gen Ryzen "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs, BIOS Update Required

The official announcement from ASUS was more or less expected to be coming soon as they had their BIOS pages for several AM5 (600-series) motherboards already listing support for the next-gen AMD Ryzen "Zen 5" Desktop CPU family. The latest BIOS is based on the AMD AGESA 1.1.7.0 firmware which adds "Granite Ridge" CPU support (codename for the next AM5 desktop lineup), and also updates from ComboPi series to FireRangePi series. Press Release: ASUS today announced BIOS updates enabling support for next-gen AMD Ryzen processors on ASUS AM5 X670, B650, and A620 motherboards, as well as support for existing Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series processors. These updates are necessary to enable compatibility with these processors. BIOS updates for ASUS AM5 motherboards also add support for existing Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series processors.

There are a total of 44 AM5 motherboards listed here which is the entirety of the ASUS AM5 board lineup. Now one should expect to see even better designs to go along with the next-gen Ryzen Zen 5 Desktop CPU family but users on existing motherboards should expect full compatibility with the existing designs.

AMD has already committed to a 2025+ plan for its AM5 platform so we should see at least one more generation of Ryzen Desktop CPUs for the socket. With that said, AMD's Zen 5 "Ryzen" CPU family is expected to offer a very nice upgrade for AM5 users, offering more performance with an expanded set of features and even better capabilities than the existing Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs. These chips are expected to debut at Computex 2024 and should launch sometime in the second half of 2024.
