The Apple Vision Pro will officially launch on February 2, with pre-orders starting from January 19. In typical Apple fashion, customers will be charged between $99 and $149 for prescription lenses, but it is not like the company is completely out to ‘nickel and dime’ its customers. According to additional details, each Apple Vision Pro user will be given a free $19 Polishing Cloth, an accessory that the technology giant announced a while back, because how else would consumers feel elated after spending a whopping $3,499 on a headset?
Apple Vision Pro customers will also receive a cover to protect the front lens of the headset
We have already discussed that the Apple Vision Pro will ship with 256GB of onboard storage, and after checking out the fine print, there is a possibility that this is all that users get for spending $3,499 on the mixed-reality headset. Though 512GB would have been the sweet spot, a first-generation product would always make several compromises.
While we wait for a cheaper Apple Vision Pro model to address all of these complaints and more, let us take a look at what the Cupertino firm is offering customers for spending a decent chunk of change. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has provided a summary below, though this information is also present in Apple’s press release.
So far the only new bits revealed about the Vision Pro today:
- 256GB of storage
- $99 (Reading) and $150 (General) for the Zeiss prescription inserts
- Comes with both the normal and top band
- Comes with the front cover and Polishing Cloth ($19 value, yours absolutely free).— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) January 8, 2024
For your troubles, the Apple Vision Pro includes a cover to protect the curved 4K microLED panels and the infamous $19 Polishing Cloth. To help secure the AR headset in place for a comfortable fit, the device will also ship with a Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band. For any other accessory, customers have to pay out of pocket for that.
“Apple Vision Pro comes with a Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band — giving users two options for the fit that works best for them. Apple Vision Pro also includes a Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, an Apple Vision Pro Cover for the front of the device, Polishing Cloth, Battery, USB-C Charge Cable, and USB-C Power Adapter.”
Keep in mind that this is the information publicly provided about the Apple Vision Pro and that after the official launch next month, there might be other tidbits surrounding more pricey accessories that we come across, so we will keep our readers in the loop and update accordingly.
