Various measures are being taken to ensure that the Apple Vision Pro launch happens as seamlessly as possible. From the carefully planned reviews to training retail employees, and just recently, a dedicated App Store for the AR headset was officially launched. The move happened a few days before the $3,499 device’s pre-orders start on January 19, meaning that before the official launch, we should see a bevy of apps listed on the visionOS app store.
Launching the Apple Vision Pro App Store earlier gives developers sufficient time to list their apps on the visionOS platform
Customers currently do not have access to the Apple Vision Pro, but developers got their hands on the headset much earlier, giving them sufficient time to go hands-on with the head-mounted wearable and develop apps for it. The visionOS App Store is expected to list applications designed for the Apple Vision Pro and iOS apps that can run on the headset in 2D mode.
Evidence of the visionOS App Store was provided by @DylanMcD8, who posted a screenshot on X showing an email notification that the platform had officially launched. The post was spotted by MacRumors, who has reported that existing apps can be ported to the Apple Vision Pro with no action needed on the part of the developer.

The Apple Vision Pro’s hardware specifications include the top-tier M2 with an 8-core and 10-core GPU, giving developers tons of performance headroom, as the SoC is more than capable of running AAA games on various Macs. Alongside the M2, the AR headset runs the R1 co-processor, freeing up processing overhead on the M2 while reducing latency input to allow for a seamless visual experience.
The first batch of Apple Vision Pro shipments is expected to reach up to 80,000 units, though analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that 500,000 units will be shipped this year, and there is a possibility that the product will be sold outside of the U.S. in a few months.
