The first-generation Apple Vision Pro’s production was seemingly halted after 2024 ended, suggesting that the company could now focus on either the low-cost version of the mixed-reality headset or the immediate successor. As we enter the second half of 2025, it was almost puzzling that we stopped hearing about the Apple Vision Pro 2, but a new report states that the upcoming device’s parts have already entered production, hinting that the new head-mounted wearable would see a launch later this year.
The M5 was previously reported to have entered mass production, which is the same SoC said to be found in the Apple Vision Pro 2
The latest information posted on ITHome was spotted by tipster @Jukanlosreve, with the details stating that the Apple Vision Pro 2’s parts such as the displays and external shell have entered production. Lens Technology is said to be the exclusive supplier for the headset’s glass panels, while Changying Precision will be responsible for the exterior components. Other unnamed manufacturers have also increased the production rate, but which parts they will supply is unconfirmed.
Surprisingly, the report mentions nothing about an affordable Apple Vision Pro, but that is likely because its launch has been pushed back to a couple of years, with TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stating that the cheaper version has been delayed beyond 2027. It was reported that development of the Apple Vision Pro 2 had been suspended due to poor sales of the first iteration, but it appears that the technology giant wishes to keep its ambitions alive, so it may kick off production in the second half of 2025.
As for the internals, the Apple Vision Pro 2 could be one of the first products to feature the M5, though the chipset’s production timeline has been all over the place. On the one hand, Apple has seemingly commenced mass production of the SoC, while a separate report claims full-scale manufacturing will start in the second half. This silicon is also expected to be found in various updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. This means that even if the M5 launch happens later this year, we should not immediately assume that the Apple Vision Pro 2 unveiling will follow. For now, we recommend readers treat this report with a pinch of salt, and we will return with more updates.
