Apple iOS 18 to bring standalone password app and more

iOS 18 is right around the corner, and details related to the new update keep on coming in. This year's WWDC will be far different from all prior events as the company is finally diving into AI. It has some interesting AI-powered features that will be unveiled for all Apple products. The latest report shares the company's ongoing efforts to streamline the user experience by introducing a new 'Password' app.

With the new standalone password app, you no longer need third-party apps to keep sensitive information on your iPhone

According to information shared by industry analyst Mark Gurman, Apple plans to streamline its password management system by offering a dedicated Passwords app with iOS 18 and macOS. Apple already offers a password system on the iPhone and Mac, but it is not readily available as users have to dig deep in the Settings to check and manage their older passwords. The company has introduced quite a few upgrades to help users keep track of their logins and passwords, but managing the key information has always been a cumbersome task.

Apple will finally store Passwords outside of the Settings app with the help of the iCloud Keychain,  making syncing information across devices much simpler. This also means that the app will support all the features you are used to, and the functionality might be extended to Vision Pro and Windows PCs in the future. With the new Passwords app on iOS 18, users will have easier access to their credentials and will not have to rely on third-party apps anymore to keep passwords.

Besides this, Apple plans to enhance the Messages app's capabilities by allowing users to send emoji reactions when reacting to a text message. iPhone users have been able to send reactions for a while now, but the lack of emojis on the list is quite frustrating, as the existing ones are pretty basic. Users can choose from an extensive list of emojis, and the company will also add more options in the future.

Lastly, the company is also bringing a new upgrade to the iPhone, which has been available for Android for a while, and that is the ability to schedule text messages. You will be able to schedule messages, which can be sent to the recipient at the specified time, and they will be automatically sent. The feature will be pretty handy if you are conversing with your friends or family in a different time zone. We believe the new updates will make iOS 18 a worthy upgrade combined with the long-awaited AI-infused features.
