Apple is slated to announce a new iMac with an upgraded M3 chip, a redesigned stand, and new color options
Apple sent out its 'Scary Fast' event invites yesterday, detailing the date and time for the event. The company will be live-streaming the product announcements on various platforms, including YouTube. We will prepare a dedicated post on how to watch the event live on any device and when the event will begin in different time zones. We are expecting the company to introduce new Macs with upgraded internals with an M3 chip.
Prominent industry analyst Mark Gurman shared an older version of the Power On newsletter and shared additional details on what we should expect with the upcoming iMac. Gurman coins that Apple has been planning an M3 iMac for a while, and the machine went into production months ago. The analyst suggests that the iMac will not undergo major changes in terms of design. However, he does state that the company will introduce internal changes for the stand. The new stand could offer further adjustment controls on the new iMac.
Apple has been planning an M3 iMac for a while, with the machine going into production months ago. No other major changes other than the chip, but the stand’s internal design has been tweaked. I’d expect colors to remain similar. https://t.co/7nm7Zyq94b

The analyst also states that the upcoming M3 iMac could come in similar color options options as the M1 variant. Apple could offer slight variations if it sees fit to introduce the same color options. Gurman points out that the iMac will feature a next-gen chip dedicated to the iMac, which could be the new M3 chip fabricated on TSMC's 3nm architecture for enhanced performance. At this point, we are not familiar with whether Apple will use the N3B or N3E node for the upcoming chips.
Besides the M3 iMac, Apple is also expected to announce a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro and upgraded MacBook Air models. We have also previously heard that the company planned to announce new iPad models in the last quarter of this year. It remains to be seen if Apple's Scary Fast event will solely focus on new Macs.
