The fastest gaming and productivity processor in the mainstream segment has arrivied, doubling the cache size of existing chips.
AMD Introduces Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, Featuring 192 MB L3 Cache; Launches on April 22 Officially
AMD has finally introduced the anticipated Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor, which couldn't see the official launch alongside Ryzen 7 9850X3D. The new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition sits above the existing Ryzen 9 9950X3D chip, but has a major change in the specification. As announced by AMD, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 will boast a total of 208 MB of Cache.

This cache comes through a combination of 192 MB L3 + 16 MB L2 cache, which is the highest cache we have seen on a mainstream processor. Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is AMD's flagship Zen 5 chip, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads, bringing an additional 64 MB L3 cache through a second 3D V-Cache chiplet. Unlike Ryzen 9 9950X3D and other X3D processors, the 9950X3D2 utilizes both CCDs to add more L3 cache for superior performance.
Jack Hyunh says the new Ryzen 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is excellent for both gaming and productivity and delivers 5-10% higher performance than Ryzen 9 9950X3D. The new processor supposedly reduces the latency as more cache is now available to store more data. These are directly accessible to the cores, which will utilize the additional capacity for better performance in select applications and games.

Apart from an additional 64 MB L3 cache, Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 also boasts a higher TDP of 200W. The 9950X3D is rated at 170W, which is already the highest in the X3D stack, but with additional power, the 9950X3D2 can boost the performance even further. AMD says the processor is ideal for large software builds, gaming engine compiles, AI models, 3D rendering, and complex content creation pipelines. So, it essentially eliminates the need to choose between a creator and a gaming CPU as it can do both efficiently.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition officially launches on April 22, 2026, but the pricing hasn't been disclosed yet.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Specs:
