AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX CPU Spotted: 32 Zen 4 Cores In Next-Gen Dell Precision Workstation 1

AMD is getting closer to the launch of its next-gen Ryzen Threadripper 7000 HEDT & Workstation CPU family featuring the latest Zen 4 cores.

AMD's Next-Gen Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs Equipped With Zen 4 Cores Run At Up To 350W TDP On SP6 "Storm Peak" Platform

There have been various leaks of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 HEDT CPU family and the latest one from Harukaze5719 further confirms that we are going to see these chips in action relatively soon. The leak comes from an HS Code listing which includes three next-gen Ryzen Threadripper chips. These include the following:

The chart shows that all three AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 HEDT CPUs feature a 350W TDP and are designed around the SP6 socket which will be part of the new "Storm Peak" series of boards. In terms of specifications, we don't get to know the exact core counts but SP6 chips are expected to max out 64 cores and 128 threads which will be the same as the existing Threadripper 5000 parts. But at the same time, previous leaks have pointed out up to 96 core and 192 thread chips too. So it may be possible that AMD has a few high-end options but those might come out on the SP5 socket platform.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7985WX which has leaked once again today also showed up in a leak last month and was shown to feature 64 cores and 128 threads. It was running on the reference test platform codenamed BoulderGulch so the 7995WX should definitely be a higher-spec'd SKU otherwise having two chips with the same core count won't make a lot of sense unless one is for the 4-channel HEDT and the other is for the 8-channel workstation platform. Following is how the lineups will stack up in the HEDT segment:

  • AMD HEDT: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 4-Channel DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / 4844 SP6 Socket
  • Intel HEDT: Xeon W-2400 (10nm Golden Cove / 4-Channel DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 Socket

For the workstation segment, we have:

  • AMD WS: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 8-Channel DDR5 / 128 PCIe Gen 5 / 6096 SP5 Socket
  • Intel WS: Xeon W-3400 (10nm Golden Cove / 8-Channel DDR5 / 112 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 Socket

The launch of the next-gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 "Storm Peak" CPUs is expected in late 2023 if everything goes smoothly. The launch will also be accompanied by the EPYC 8004 Siena chips which haven't been launched so far. But talking about Siena, Momomo_US has leaked out the entirety of the SP6 lineup which will include a total of six SKUs ranging from 8 cores all the way up to 64 cores. These chips range from 90-200W since they don't have to go aggressive with the clock speeds like the Threadripper family. The SKUs are shown in the table below:
