AMD Expands Hawk Point Lineup With Numerous New SKUs Under Ryzen 200 And 100 Series

The new processors come with a confusing naming scheme, and unlike what you would expect, these are based on a newer Zen microarchitecture.

AMD Silently Adds 11 New Processors to Ryzen 200 and 100 Series, Featuring Zen 4 Architecture

Recently, we published that AMD expanded its Zen 2 Renoir series by adding the Ryzen 7 4700LE processor. Looks like AMD isn't yet done with previous-gen Ryzen families and has decided to debut several more SKUs in previous lineups, but with a newer naming convention. It appears that AMD is trying to simplify the naming convention, similar to Intel, and has now added 11 new processors under its Ryzen 200 and 100 series lineups.

As spotted by Videocardz, the company has introduced seven new chips under the Ryzen 200 lineup, featuring the Zen 4 architecture. The lineup already has several Ryzen 200 series Zen 4-based chips, featuring up to 8 cores and 16 threads. With the addition of seven new processors, AMD has expanded the lineup with 6 and 8-core chips, including Ryzen 3 205, Ryzen 5 216, Ryzen 7 217, Ryzen 5 224, Ryzen 5 225, Ryzen 7 249, and Ryzen 7 253.

Similarly, the company introduced four new SKUs in the Ryzen 100 series, but apparently, they don't use the Zen 3+ architecture like the existing Ryzen 100 CPUs. The CPUs are Ryzen 9 180, Ryzen 7 165, Ryzen 7 155, and Ryzen 5 125. These are categorized under Hawk Point, based on a 4nm process node and with RDNA 3 integrated graphics. This confirms that these aren't using Zen 3+ architecture, as has been mistakenly mentioned by AMD on the website.

The new product stack adds 4, 6, and 8 cores SKUs to the existing lineup, offering Radeon 700M integrated graphics, including iGPUs such as Radeon 740M, Radeon 760M, and Radeon 780M. One should now expect OEMs to deploy these chips in their newer laptop offerings or even mini PCs soon.
