AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains the most popular Zen 5 CPU in one of the biggest German retailers and sells like hotcakes.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Shows its Dominance in the Whole Zen 5 Desktop CPU lineup by Becoming the Most-Sold Chip at Mindfactory

It has been roughly two months since the fastest gaming processor dropped. We are talking about the Zen 5-based Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, which succeeds the Ryzen 7 7800X3D based on Zen 4. Since its launch, the processor has seen heavy demand despite a whopping $479 price tag. Even at that price, the processors seem to do extremely well in most retail stores worldwide.

While we don't have the exact global sales figures for the 9800X3D, the numbers in Germany for one of the biggest retail stores are now out. Mindfactory shows that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has now sold about 8650 units from this single retailer, which means the total sales of the processor are significantly higher when combining fixtures from all the offline and online German retailers.

To understand how impressive this is, you can compare it against other CPUs like the Zen 5-based non-X3D Ryzen 9000 processors. A quick search reveals that the total sales of all the Ryzen 9000 CPUs combined couldn't reach the total sales figures of the 9800X3D. The AMD Ryzen 9700X came second with 2560 units, followed by the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X with 920 units, and then the Ryzen 9 9900X, and Ryzen 9 9950X with 820 and 790 units respectively.

The total combined sales of these processors came to about 5090 units, which is still short of 3560 units to become equal to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Surprisingly, the Ryzen 9000 non-X3D processors were launched a few months before the 9800X3D, which made the 9800X3D sales number even more terrific. While a bit early to say, it does have the potential to compete with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which sold about 78,450 units from Mindfactory alone.

The Ryzen 7800X3D is going to turn two in April and has enjoyed popularity for quite a while now. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D stands among the top 5 best-selling CPUs in most retail stores worldwide, including giants like Amazon and Newegg. On Amazon, AMD sold about 5000 units of 9800X3D on 24th December (just a single day). Even though it was occasional, it still stood in the top 5 best-selling CPUs on that day.

Due to its high popularity, the CPU sometimes goes out of stock and retails for a higher price than MSRP. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9000 processors can now be found for lower than their launch price but aren't as popular as the X3D counterpart.

AMD is going to reveal more Ryzen 9000X3D chips at CES, namely the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. At the same time, it will release more hardware like RDNA 4 GPUs and budget 800-series chipset motherboards.
