AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D 3D V-Cache CPU is launching soon, and from the looks of it, the chip will be a strong gaming product but will come at a high price.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 3D V-Cache Is Ready To Tackle Intel's Core Ultra 200S In Early November, Strong Gaming Performance, Higher Clocks But Expensive

We have seen a couple of leaks of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 3D V-Cache CPU over the past few weeks, including details about its specifications and performance in gaming and applications. Early results showcase that the chip is going to be a really nice upgrade over the 7800X3D which itself is a phenomenal chip, especially given its recent prices which were closer to $300 US though they've jumped quite a bit over the past few weeks.

Now, Chiphell Forum member, wjm47196, states that the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 3D V-Cache CPU is all set to be introduced on the 25th of October which is what was reported earlier and the retail launch will take place in the first week of November which means that the red team is confident that the new 3D V-Cache part can tackle the Core Ultra 200S "Arrow Lake" lineup from Intel which is launching on the 24th of October.

The forum member who has been active in the leak scene in the past also disclosed that the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will have a very high frequency which was showcased in the recent leaks. The chip is expected to feature an all-core boost clock of up to 5.2 GHz which is higher than the single-core frequency of the 7800X3D rated at 5.0 GHz. Given the performance that we have seen, it's very likely that the single-core frequency ends up close to the same as the 9700X which is 5.5 GHz, marking up to a 500 MHz increase over its predecessor and offering similar single and multi-core performance.

Other specifications of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will include 8 cores, 16 threads based on the Zen 5 core architecture, 32 MB of L3 and 64 MB of stacked 3D V-Cache SRAM for a total of 96 MB cache and an additional 8 MB of L2 cache, totaling the pool to 104 MB.

However, it is also mentioned that the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D won't be cheap at launch. We know that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D launched at $449 US and only came down in pricing after a wave of retail discounts. So a $400 US+ price point is expected which puts the chip above the Core Ultra 7 265K & KF SKUs in terms of pricing.

The latter will offer better multi-core capabilities and is expected to be around 5% slower than the 14900K in gaming. For those users who don't have a big demand to get a 9800X3D gaming chip or looking for better multi-core capabilities, the 9950X3D is expected to be a very strong offering too.

With Intel stating that their Core Ultra 200S "Arrow Lake" CPUs will be around 5% behind Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache offerings, the next-gen Ryzen 9000X3D are going to sit somewhere in the double-digit uplift range, making them strong gaming options for the PC audiences. Now, we look forward to the efficiency gains and the prices at which the Ryzen 9000X3D lineup will be offered.
