A new RDNA 4 GPU has arrived, but it's rated at a lower TDP than the existing Radeon RX 9060 XT. The GPU has identical specifications, but there are some minor changes as well.
AMD Silently Launches Radeon RX 9060 XT LP, Which is Rated at 20W Lower Than the Existing GPU
AMD has now started launching more RDNA 4 GPUs. While the company doesn't seem to have much in the RDNA 4 lineup, it does have some variants of the existing graphics cards. The two main GPU series, RX 9070 and RX 9060, are getting continuously expanded by SKUs like RX 9070 GRE and RX 9060. However, some are China-exclusive, and some are reserved only for OEMs.
While AMD previously said it might launch the RX 9060 as a standalone product, it has yet to do so. Now AMD has launched another RX 9060 XT variant, called the Radeon RX 9060 XT "LP" or Low-Power, as it's rated at a lower TDP than the regular XT GPU. The AMD China page for the product is live, and we can see that it boasts a TDP of 140W, which is 20W lower than the RX 9060 XT. (Update: a global page is also live, which suggests this isn't specific to China)
Other things, such as shader count, memory capacity, memory interface, AI accelerators, and similar stuff, appear to be identical, but the FP8, FP16, FP32, and other compute throughput at various precisions seem to have been nerfed very slightly. The RX 9060 XT LP at the time of writing offers the same 2048 Stream Processors, 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM, 128-Bit Memory Bus, and 64 AI Accelerators. It also retains the same 8-pin power connector, but of course, the GPU will draw slightly lower power.
The connectivity is identical as well, bringing the same HDMI 2.1b and DP 2.1a ports, and we have no change in the supported rendering formats. We don't know if AMD has plans to launch the 8 GB version, but considering the 16 GB is much more popular, we may not see that one in the market. We are yet to see information on its pricing and availability, but it should cost slightly lower than the standard variant.
