A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei is the latest AAA-looking Chinese martial arts action RPG to be announced. It will launch on PC and PlayStation 5.

On the heels of the unveiling of GeniGods: Nezha, here's a new Chinese AAA-looking game titled A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei. Developed by Chengdu Cangmo Information Technology Co., Ltd., it's part of PlayStation's China Hero Program and will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC (with store pages already available on Steam and the Epic Games Store).

Like Black Myth: Wukong, Phantom Blade Zero, and the aforementioned GeniGods: Nezha, it's a martial arts-themed action roleplaying game. When it comes to the setting, though, A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei shares the same time period as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, being set during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), a time when the empire is on the brink of collapse.

Players take the role of an ordinary boatman who, due to an unexpected incident, is forced to infiltrate the titular Jinyiwei, the Imperial Guards of the Ming Dynasty, as a black-market undercover agent. While within the Jinyiwei, players will refine their martial arts skills and carry out missions for the Imperial Guard Bureau, all the while completing tasks assigned by the black market. As the investigation deepens, the narrative continues with a glimpse of a massive conspiracy. Thankfully, the protagonist is equipped with a unique 'deduction' ability to foresee the future and navigate among different factions to survive and uncover the truth. As a Jinyiwei, they can solve cases swiftly, interrogate suspects repeatedly, and use their deduction ability to quickly identify the true culprit and imprison them.

As a knight-errant, the protagonist can also sneak around, walk on walls, and leap between rooftops while engaging enemies in combat. The developers want players to experience the conflicts, friendships, and vendettas of the traditional martial arts world.

There's currently no release window for A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, but we'll keep an eye on its development progress. Stay tuned.
