Internet Archive is doing everything possible to preserve old video games, including PC MS-DOS games, and the efforts are definitely paying off, as the latest update brought a lot more games that can be played through any web browser.

The latest update allows players to play around 2500 PC MS-DOS retro games, including all-time classic like DOOM, Alone in the Dark, Prince of Persia, Mortal Kombat and many others. Emulation isn't perfect for a few titles, but most are in a good, playable state.

Through the use of the EM-DOSBOX in-browser emulator, these programs are bootable and playable. Please be aware this browser-based emulation is still in beta - contact Jason Scott, Software Curator, if there are issues or questions. Thanks to eXo for contributions and assistance with this archive.

Even though there are emulation issues, what Internet Archive is doing is definitely impressive. Who would have thought so many years ago that games that required the full power of any high-end PC back in the day would be playable through something as simple as a web-browser?
