In an article posted yesterday, gaming website GameStop stated that Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, the new version of Tekken 7 launching this year, is going to be a PlayStation 4 console exclusive. The article has since been taken down for a few simple reasons that have been revealed by the series’ Community Advisor.

Asked about the matter on Twitter, Mark Julio, Brand and Community Advisor for the Tekken series, has confirmed that the article has been taken down for “inaccuracy and weirdness”. Michael Murray, one of the game’s designers, has also iterated once again that Tekken 7 Fated Retribution has only been confirmed for PlayStation 4 as of now.

The home console release of Tekken 7 Fated Retribution is shrouded in mystery. Around one month ago, Michael Murray stated that it’s up to management if the game gets released on other consoles, even though the team would love to have the game on Microsoft’s console. Considering how the team doesn’t confirm nor deny other versions of Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, and how Bandai Namco has been collaborating closely with Nintendo in recent times with Super Smash for Wii U and 3DS and Pokken Tournament, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a Nintendo NX release of the game.

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution will come with several enhancements over the original Tekken 7, which has only received an arcade release, as well as additional content such as new characters and much more. Among the new characters of the game is Akuma from the Street Fighter series, the first, and most likely, only guest characters of Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. A gameplay video showcasing the character has also been made available recently.

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution has only been confirmed so far on PlayStation 4, and a release date has yet to be confirmed. We will keep you updated on the release on other formats as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
