[UPDATE 1] In a new Tweet by Geuder, he states that there is “no NX news”, and hints at a possible E3 reveal. Since Nintendo already shared that the NX won’t be present at the E3, Geuder seems to be misinformed.

Nintendo’s upcoming dedicated home console, the Nintendo NX, has been teased by a Mojang employee.

Mojang business developer, Patrick Geuder, recently took to Twitter to tease Nintendo’s upcoming new console. According to Geuder, today is the day ‘we’ finally get to know what the Nintendo NX exactly is. With his ´tease´, Geuder might well be implying that Mojang will be receiving inside information from Nintendo about their upcoming console.

Whether Geuder is merely teasing remains to be seen, but his Tweet remains interesting. Mojang was founded back in 2009, and is responsible for the best-selling game of all time, Minecraft. The Swedish studio is also responsible for action sidescroller, Cobalt. The development studio was acquired by Microsoft back in 2014 for roughly $ 2.5 billion.

A few weeks ago it was revealed that Nintendo´s new console will be releasing in March 2017, and that the console will be based on a “brand-new concept”.

“For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” which is a brand-new concept, and our unique software-led hardware-software integrated business will continue to constitute the core business for Nintendo. For the purpose of maximizing the population that interacts with Nintendo IP, we have entered into the smart device gaming business. We will aim to create a synergetic effect between the smart device business and Nintendo’s dedicated game system business to maximize the Nintendo businesses overall by growing our smart device business so that it is profitable on its own while continuously strengthening our connection with our consumers by enhancing features of our new membership service called My Nintendo”, reads Nintendo’s financial report for their past fiscal year.

Interestingly enough, the Nintendo NX won’t be present at the upcoming E3 in Los Angeles. According to Tokyo Tech reporter, Takashi Mochizuki, Nintendo will be focusing on the new Zelda instead.
