Super Mario Odyssey Announced For Holiday 2017; Single-Player Sandbox-Style Mario

Super Mario Odyssey patch 1.1.0

Super Mario Odyssey has been announced during Nintendo’s Switch presentation overnight, and a new press release includes some more details about the title.

The game’s reveal trailer mentions a Holiday 2017 release, and as could be discerned from the video, it would seem that Mario Odyssey will be a “single-player” only experience – a thing that’s also mentioned in the game’s fact sheet. Check out the game’s reveal trailer down below:

The game appears to be set in city landscapes outside of the Mushroom Kingdom, and Nintendo mentions a sandbox-style Mario game like “Super Mario 64” on the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube’s “Super Mario Sunshine”.
