Apple iPad Air Coming to Various Regional Telcos – GCI, Bluegrass Cellular & C Spire Wireless
Next Friday, Apple is all set to unleash its recently-announced iPad Air – the lighter version of previous full-sized iPad. The device is set to launch in some 42 markets and now a few regional United States wireless carriers are confirming their plans for releasing Apple’s iPad from their networks. Among these new carriers include, GCI, Bluegrass Cellular, and C Spire Wireless. These networks already carry the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5c and have confirmed launching the 9.7 incher on their networks when the device debuts in coming weeks.
Alaska based GCI announced the release of Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad Air:
GCI will offer iPad Air with a range of attractive data plans that will allow customers to connect to its fast 4G LTE network with average download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps.
Regional Bluegrass Cellular and C Spire Wireless cover much of the southern United States; including Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky areas. Mississippi based C Spire’s press release on Friday also confirmed the launch of Apple’s fifth gen tablet on its 4G LTE:
“C Spire today announced that iPad Air with Wi-Fi + Cellular will be available on its 4G LTE network in the coming weeks.” – iPad Air networks.
Formerly Cellular South, C Spire Wireless is nation’s eighth largest network; last year, it launched 4G LTE on its network in partnership with Verizon Wireless. Since then, it has rolled out in 43 Mississippi markets and plans to launch LTE in 71 cities and 51 counties before the year ends. It would cover a population of 496,000 across the state!
iPad Air is set to launch at 8 am local time on November 1. The device will be sold through Apple, carriers, retails stores, and authorized resellers in the United States and 41 markets globally. Walmart has also confirmed it will offer the tablet with a 20% discount.
Now for the Bluegrass Cellular, the telco is teasing with both iPad Air and the iPad Mini with Retina on their website, listing them as coming soon. Another first timer is that these iPads will also be offered on cellular T-Mobile network.
