There's been a lot of speculation on when Square Enix will finally unveil Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Is it going to be during tomorrow's Summer Game Fest, , or will they wait until Gamescom or perhaps even Tokyo Game Show?
According to Nate the Hate, one of the most trustworthy insiders, the Japanese publisher will show off the third installment in the remake trilogy at some point during Geoff Keighley's event, which goes live from the Dolby Theatre this Friday, June 5, at 2 PM Pacific Time / 5 PM Eastern Time / 11 PM CEST. By the way, Keighley himself is hyping this year's show as the biggest Summer Game Fest yet.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will have the onerous task of bringing closure to the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy project. So far, fans and critics alike have greatly appreciated Square Enix's work, but there is the all-too-real risk of somehow messing up with the final and arguably most important part.
Still, the developers have shared confidence in their work. They promised that this installment would offer a "new gaming experience" and also vowed to satisfy old-timers and newcomers alike with the game's ending.
Square Enix also made the bold choice to avoid Epic's new Unreal Engine 5, sticking with the older Unreal Engine 4. They argued that the development would go more smoothly with tools they were already familiar with.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is further distinguishing itself from the previous two installments by not being a PlayStation console exclusive at launch. Every platform will get it right away, instead of having to wait years (Final Fantasy VII Rebirth just launched on Xbox Series S|X and Nintendo Switch 2). Furthermore, with PC as the lead platform, PC users can look forward to a more optimized, feature-rich experience that leverages the more powerful hardware.
The Summer Game Fest 2026 reveal could also come with a launch window. Current estimates suggest the game should launch next year.
