Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Expected To Get A Nice Little Speed Bump Over Mi5
Xiaomi Mi5 was by far the cheapest Snapdragon 820 powered released by the manufacturer. Phablet enthusiasts out there are going to rejoice once more at the fact that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is going to pack impressive hardware underneath its hood, along with a screen size that we feel is going to be the same as its predecessor.
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Expected To Be Incorporated With A Snapdragon 823 – Higher Clock Speeds And A 5.7 QHD Display Amongst The Specifications
Xiaomi is rumored to be working on a 4.3 inched variant of its Mi5 and later during this year, Mi Note 2 is expected to continue where the 5.7-inch Mi Note left off. According to the latest leak, Snapdragon 823 is expected to be part of the hardware specifications. Snapdragon 820 came with the following custom core clock speeds:
- Dual-core 2.15GHz Kryo
- Dual-core 1.6GHz Kryo
Since Snapdragon 823 is expected to perform better than a Snapdragon 820, it could feature higher clock speeds but the SoC is not going to be based on a different architecture because the time taken to design an entire chipset requires lots of resources, which Qualcomm is unable to deliver due to shortage of time. Instead, it is going to be based on the same 14nm FinFET LPP process, and will feature higher clock speeds.
Additionally, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch screen along with a QHD display, since there obviously needs to be some form of distinction in order to separate the features of the two phones. However, incorporating a QHD display will drain battery life at an alarming pace, so it is imperative that Xiaomi packs in a larger battery capacity underneath its hood. Mi5 came with a 3,000mAh cell, so it is highly possible that Mi Note 2 comes with a battery boasting a capacity of 3,600mAh.
4GB LPDDR4 RAM is also expected to be part of the configuration, although Xiaomi could become overzealous and place in 6GB of RAM. Additionally, a pressure sensitive display might also be present, along with 256GB of on-board storage as the maximum storage capacity. Naturally, due to all the hardware present, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could come with a much larger retail price than Mi5, but the Chinese smartphone OEM could reduce the price of its 5.15-inch flagship in order to gain even more traction in a competitive market.
